On behalf of the Hodgman Liberal Government, I congratulate Crime Stoppers for being awarded two prestigious International Awards at the 2017 Crime Stoppers International conference in Panama.
Crime Stoppers has been in Tasmania for over 22 years, and the Government recognises and supports the important role it plays in keeping our communities safe.
This is the first time in Crime Stoppers history it has received any international awards and is appropriate recognition for the great work they do every day in keeping Tasmanians safe.
The Hodgman Government is proud to support Crime Stoppers, and we are currently working with them on a dedicated project aimed at assisting businesses to deal with shoplifting.
This adds to other Hodgman Government initiatives to keep Tasmanians safe, such as restoring the police numbers that Labor and the Greens cut, and introducing mandatory sentencing for those who sexually assault children, those who assault police, and those who assault our frontline workers.
